I am coming from a small, but beautiful town of Aranđelovac in Central Serbia.
In August 2010, I graduated Software Engineering, at the
School of Electrical Engineering,
University of Belgrade. In October same year, I continued my education at the Barcelona School of Informacs (FIB), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), finishing MSc in Computing, the next year.
In September 2011, I decided to pursue my PhD studies under the supervision of professors Alberto Abelló and Oscar Romero, inside the Group of Information Modelling and Processing (MPI).
In 2013, I have been awarded a full-time, four year PhD grant by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport, inside the FPU grant program. I have been working on the problems of requirement-driven design and optimization of data-intensive flows. In 2014, I joined the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate program of
Information Technologies for Business Intelligence, Doctoral College (IT4BI-DC), and continued my PhD studies in cohort with Université Libre de Bruxelles, and my co-advisor, professor
Toon Calders.
In September 2016, I obtained my PhD title, under the cotutelle between Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Université Libre de Bruxelles.

My research interests mainly fall into the business intelligence field, namely:
- Big Data management
- Management and optimization of data-intensive flows
- Data warehousing, ETL
- Distributed data processing, MapReduce, Hadoop ecosystem

- 2012-1014. Part of the research project TIN2011-24747, of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Inovation (MICINN), working on the development of new techniques for information integration.
- 2012-2014. Part of the R&D collaboration project between Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and HP Labs, Palo Alto, under the supervision of the HP Labs' researcher Alkis Simitsis. Project focused on automating the logical design and optimization of hybrid data flows, enabling engine independent design and composition of hybrid data flows that may span different execution and storage engines, thus enabling inter-engine management and optimization of hybrid data flows.
