HP Labs, Palo Alto (HPL)
Alkis Simitsis, Kevin WilkinsonDescription
This R&D collaboration aimed at automating the logical design and optimization of data-intensive flows. Part of the project was focused on enabling engine independent design and composition of hybrid data flows that may span different execution and storage engines, thus enabling inter-engine management and optimization of hybrid data flows.
On-site activities
Besides collaborative research work on distance, this collaboration also included two research visits to HP Labs, and work on the development of different modules of Hybrid Flow Management System (HFMS) that has been developed at HP Labs.
Research outcomes
This collaboration resulted in several joint conference and journal publications, as well as two patent applications:
- Converting a hybrid flow. Petar Jovanovic, Alkis Simitsis, William K. Wilkinson - US Patent 20,140,344,817, 2014
- Optimizing analytic flows. Alkis Simitsis, William K. Wilkinson, Petar Jovanovic - US Patent App. 13/859,564, 2013
