  • Description

This collaboration takes place in the framework of the LEARN-SQL project. More specifically, we started working together in the design of the system  that allows on-line learning and assessment of students on SQL skills in an automatic, interactive, informative, scalable and extensible manner, conforming to the IMS QTI specification.

Then, after years of using the tool in several database courses, and experiencing its positive effects in the learning of different database issues, we worked together in adaptating it for allowing some Computer-Supported Collaboration Learning techniques. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results obtained from the use of collaborative learning in both the cross-curricula competences and the subject-specific ones in the "Introduction to Databases" course of the Barcelona School of Informatics was performed. Relevantly, this analysis demonstrates the positive impact this methodology had, allowing to conclude that not only project-based learning fits these kind of courses.
