USING AND MANAGING QUALITY PATTERNS

Quality Patterns are fragments of quality models that can be used in the construction of other quality models.

We provide the possibility of having user quality patterns and global quality patterns:

    - User quality patterns are patterns that specific of the user, and he can use them in the construction of quality models in any of the scopes (categories or domains) in which he is an expert.

    - Global quality patterns are patterns shared among all the users of QM.

Any user can export his quality patterns as global quality patterns.

The quality patterns may include metrics for its basic quality factors or not. Depending on the option chosen by the user in defining them.

1. THE QUALITY PATTERNS MANAGER

1.1 Opening the quality patterns manager

It is possible to open the quality patterns catalogue by choosing the “Quality Patterns Catalogue...” option in the “Tools” menu.

It is also possible to open the quality patterns catalogue by choosing one of the icons of the menu.

1.2 Quality Patterns Organization

The quality patterns manager has two sections.

     The first section “User Quality Patterns” corresponds to the quality patterns of the user.

The second section “Global Quality Patterns” corresponds to the quality patterns that are public to all the users.

Each quality pattern has a name, and the quality factors that compose it.

1.3 Exporting a local quality pattern as a global quality pattern

1.4 Editing the information of a quality pattern

 The information managed on a quality pattern is the name, the data in which it has been created, the explanation that justifies its creation, the sources from where the pattern has been obtained or that have inspired the need of create it, and personal comments of the user that created it.

It is just possible to edit the data managed for a global quality pattern by the user that created the pattern.

1.5 Deleting a quality pattern

 Local quality patterns always may be deleted. Global quality patterns just can be deleted by the user that created the pattern.

1.6 Creating a local quality pattern

 The option “Export As a Pattern” from the list of functionalities allows create a local quality pattern. We can choose to export the pattern with metrics of the basic attributes or not.

 When a new pattern is created with metrics there is an icon that notes it.

1.7 Use of a quality pattern

 The option “Paste Quality Pattern” from the list of functionalities allows to use a pattern to decompose the selected quality factor.

First it is necessary to copy the quality pattern.

After that it is necessary to select the quality factor that the pattern is going to decompose.
